Porter began rapping in January 2018 under the stage name Blueface Bleedem, a reference to his ties to the School Yard Crip gang. Originally moving back to Los Angeles after leaving his college football career behind, he was invited to his friend and later producer, Laudiano's studio to retrieve a charger and after being challenged to rap over a beat, Porter began to work and collaborate with Laudiano to release his first song, "Dead Locs" to Soundcloud.^[10][5] In June 2018, he released his first full-length project, Famous Cryp. In September 2018, after the song and EP helped him build a local following in California, he released his second EP, Two Coccy to Soundcloud and Spotify.^{[11][12][13][14]}
